Caterpillar Animation:
Here I was given a task to create a moving Caterpillar in After Effects. However, firstly I was asked to create my Caterpillar using Photoshop, so I went onto Google to get some ideas of what to make my desired Caterpillar look like, I found an image of The Hungry Caterpillar, I copied it and pasted it into Photoshop. I took the head off the image and put it into a new canvas so I could create my own Caterpillar body. I used the paint brush tool and created green circles for the body of my Caterpillar. I then removed the background so that it was transparent. I then opened up After Effects and created a new composition, I then imported my image into After Effects and moved it over onto my work space.
Then I was asked to move my Caterpillar by adding in Puppet Pins. I then placed them where I wanted them to go so that my Caterpillar would move according to there pins. I have taken screen shots of this. In the timeline, I clicked on deform and it brought up all my key frames from the moving Caterpillar.
Then I had to copy my key frames so that it would carry on looping, I have taken screen shots of this too.
I lost some of my work for this animation, however I took these screen shots below as evidence that I have created it.
I wanted my Caterpillar to move across the screen so I changed the position it was in so that the Caterpillar was hidden of screen to the left side of the page, then I used the position option and I added a key frame in at the start and then again at the end, I changed the position of the last key frame so that it would go to the other end of the entire image. I thought this worked quite well and for my first proper animation in After Effects it was very well put together.
