Evaluation:
Here is the evaluation of my work for this project.
Research:
For my final outcome I chose to look at moving magazine covers. I chose this because it was different and that it would be really interesting to see. I was influenced by this as I saw a video on YouTube of Emma Watson in a moving cover and I thought that it looked really interesting and was unique. The sources I looked at were on YouTube mostly. I also decided to look at typography and creating typefaces. I chose this as well as I thought that it would be really interesting to incorporate the two. With typography I looked at typographers like: Craig Ward and Jessica Hische as these helped with some sample and test pieces later on.
Investigation:
My final outcome combined primary and secondary sources, my primary sources was me trying out ideas like the typography and seeing which worked best. Like seeing if speech would work with the moving cover or if it would be a disaster. I also tried to create my own typeface which was rather fun and creative. I liked my end three products as it was something which I had created and it felt good knowing that I had created it and that I wasn't taking someone else's.
Initial Ideas:
My initial ideas were that I were going to take photographs of cream being poured over a model's face. I liked this idea because I thought that it would be something that would intrigue the audience. I was influenced with this idea from watching Vogue: In the Editor's Eye and I was really amazed by their photos, and thought I could do the same but try with different colours and also a time lapse film, which would be more appealing. I decided against this, because I would have had to find the right girl for this which could have taken a while.
I then came up with the idea of projecting onto people. I really liked this concept because it seemed really interesting and I thought that the outcomes would be really striking. For my idea however, I thought of having moving objects projected onto their faces, like the earth spinning as a GIF, a storm, waves, and fire. I thought that these would be the most intriguing to look at. I also thought of maybe having the twin towers and I would use two people, one for either tower, I thought that this would be really strong and would be really striking for an audience to see.
My third and final idea was: After seeing a few clips on YouTube, one of Emma Watson for Marie Claire, and one of a girl with her hair blowing in the wind, I found that these would be really interesting if they were improved. At first I did want to have this to have speech in it, however after trying that out it didn't really work so well, so I just decided on having it as a moving magazine cover only. I'm going to do this in a fashion cover sort of way, so I'm having to look at different fashion magazines to get the right look and pose for some of these moving magazine covers. Overall, I think that this is going to work and will look quite intriguing for an audience to see.

Techniques and Workshops:
I think that the things that were successful were trying to create a typeface on Adobe Illustrator, as I found that it was easy to do and was really quick. I also thought that animography was really quick and simple to do. I found a website were I downloaded one of their free animography typefaces and I looked at the tutorial to help me when I was importing into After Effects to get a real sense of how this was used.
The things that didn't go well for me during this process, was putting speech into my moving magazine cover, as there was lots of camera shake with this, to make this into a positive note, I simply took the idea of speech being taken out of the equation. So I was left with the idea of having a moving magazine cover with the help of typography and animography to make it more interesting and innovative. The things that I learnt through this process was that I wasn't going to give up on this idea, it was challenging due to the speech not going with my idea, however I worked past it and used typography to do the speech for me. Therefore, the problem was solved.

Idea Development:
I developed my ideas from having watched more moving covers online, looking at animography and the art of it and also seeing how typefaces were created. I chose the ideas to develop by what was the strongest piece in my work. The major targeted research I needed to do was looking at different typefaces to get the right feel I wanted to create, I chose to do two capital typefaces to create and I made one lowercase typeface which was really fun to do. WIth the creating of this it was really interesting, as I looked at different typefaces online on Behance to give me a varied look at other interesting and intriguing typefaces.
Samples / Test Pieces:
The samples / test pieces I did were mostly testing out the speech, trying animography design and creating my typefaces and also the setting out of my composition for my moving cover. The things that were successful were creating my typography with Illustrator and the animography in After Effects and also the creating of the composition needed for my final outcome. These influenced the final design as I had three very different and unique video clips to use for the covers, in my two minute video. I had created a countdown with the animography to start it off. I then had a few more pieces of animography playing before my covers came to life. I rather liked they way that my video came about, as I thought it looked appealing and suitable to my brief.
Design Development:
I arrived at my final design by having animography then a few pieces of animated type, following by a moving cover, back to animated type, then another cover, then animated text again, followed by another cover then the final pieces of my animated text. My pieces of animated text I used were, fashion words like 'SKINNY, VODUE, DESIGN, FASHION, etc', I also used my own typeface in an animation within it to showcase some more of my typefaces being used into my final outcome. The pieces of animated text I put in were sometimes quotes like: 'FASHION IS OVER QUICKLY' 'FASHION FADES ONLY STYLE REMAINS' 'YOUR BODY IS YOUR ULTIMATE FASHION STATEMENT'. I liked having these in my final outcome as I thought that it would make it more personal to the audience.
Final Outcome:
For my final outcome I used a variety of different programmes to help me get to my final stage. These programmes were: Adobe Effects, Adobe Illustrator and also Adobe Premiere, these helped very well from constructing my animography / animated type, creating of typefaces and also structuring my final composition for the final outcome. I thought that in beginning speech could've worked with my moving magazine cover, however when I tested this it didn't work out as planned and there was lots of camera shake and made the video look awful, I decided to change this idea and used typography to say what I would've said with speech, so it wasn't a total loss. I think that this final outcome could've been improved if the speech wasn't an issue, I think that if the speech was there I think that it would have been far more greater than what it is now.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
My strengths throughout this project were: Creating my typography, and creating my typefaces as I was more intrigued with this field than the moving magazine cover itself. My weaknesses through this project were probably that I did want to change my idea to specifically concentrate on the typography and typeface side because I found it more interesting. I also thought that with the speech not going into my final outcome that was a weakness because it would have been greatly improved if the speech was there.
