Harry Potter (1-8) Idea Generation:
Here is my three ideas for my Harry Potter Animation:
First Idea: Marauder's Map.
1. My favourite part throughout this one film would be when Fred and George Weasley played by Oliver and James Phellps give Harry the Mararder's Map. This is a very special map as is contains an image of the entire school and shows the real-time locations of everyone on the grounds. Fred and George also tell Harry that the map shows the whereabouts of several secret passages out of Hogwarts, ideal for leaving undetected. If I could recreate anything from this film and it would be when we see people moving around on the Marauder's map.
I would create the map myself by using folded paper and staining it with tea bags, and making burnt effects. I would then draw on the specific design of the map to make it look authentic and for it to resemble that of the true map. I would take a photo of my holding the map and also of me folding it out. Then I would zoom into one part of the map and create my own little animation of my name and with footsteps and creating the animation where you see the footsteps of me walking. I think this would be a good animation to recreate.

Above, is an animation which I found on the internet of someone else creating an animation like The Marauder's Map.
For my own animation I would create the map myself using paper, stain it and trace the signs on the front to make it look similar to the one of the original map. I would then make my animation zoom in and create an animation like the one above, here I think this would be quite an exciting animation and it's to do with a favourite film of mine so I'm really exciting to create this for my final animation.

Second Idea: Puppet Animation.
2. Another one of my favourite things from Harry Potter, is "The Tale of The Three Brothers", this is where we find out about the resurrection stone, the elder wand and of course the famous invisibility cloak.
The Tale of the Three Brothers is a fairy tale told to wizard children. Supposedly written by Beedle the Bard, it is published as part of a series of works that collectively are called The Tales of Beedle the Bard. While most wizards view this story as one that teaches children morals (e.g. humility, wisdom, etc.), some believe that the story refers to the Deathly Hallows, three highly powerful magical artifacts coveted by generations of wizards. I would start this animation when you see a feather float into a river and changes the colour from black to a milky sepia tone, this would add quite a nice effect to the animation which is one thing I personally liked about this, it was indeed the simplistic colour and range of the animation.
I would carry on with the seeing of the three brothers and when they have to cross the bridge, until once they reach the other side and they are met with Death. I would maybe end this animation where we see the three brother's with there prizes from crossing the bridge. This would then leave me at 1 minute, 40 seconds.

The three objects mentioned during the tale are meant to be the Deathly Hallows, the most powerful magical objects in existence. The Elder Wand is the unbeatable wand of the oldest brother, the Resurrection Stone is the stone given to the second brother, and the Cloak of Invisibility is the cloak given to the third brother that could hide the wearer even from Death. It is believed that whoever succeeds in uniting all three of the Hallows would become the Master of Death. Xenophilius Lovegood, Gellert Grindelwald, and Albus Dumbledore were among those who believed in these items and their continued existence.
Final Idea Generation:
Kinetic Typography.
3. I also had a thought of creating a piece of Typography for this particular animation too, I would have someone or myself to say the direct speech that is playing when this animation, is played. I think this would work a lot better as it would be more interesting and have a certain feel towards the animation, of that of death and sorrow. I would use the same colours ie, the sepia tones, creamy milky whites and yellows, brown and blacks. I would probably start with a black background and alternate with white and my own boarded sketch which is below as I quite like that for the title sequence. Also I would use a border on every single piece of text which is shown on screen as this would make people think in with what the animation is about and would really entice people and would hopefully, keep their attention.
I would change the font for certain words in this typography animation. I would probably use a simple Ariel font and then change it for more important, dramatic words like: death, cut, throat, bragged, hopeless etc. This would give the animation a more dramatic and eerie feel which would look quite interesting and would also have an interesting feel to the simple yet beautiful animation.
- Below is the images in which I have drawn for added effects within the typography animation.
I would like to put these into my typography as it would create a certain mood towards the animation, and I would like people to be in awe when they see the images with the writing.

Kinetic Typography:
Here's a quick look at how this would be created. I took screen shots of how I created this set of typography in Adobe Illustrator. I have already explained how to create this on my Kinetic Typography, page.
I simply just did the same thing here but for the new words of 'He then greeted Death as an old friend, he went with him gladly to pass on his life, as equals.' |
