Here is a few images of how my first model shoot went for the Environment project.
This was shot on Thursday 11th October.
I thoroughly enjoyed this shoot, it was really simple yet really beautiful. My chosen model, didn't need much prompting as I told her what look I was trying to achieve which was a natural yet elegant style and a contemporary she was also very supportive and asked where she should be placed and was really helpful. From the images below you can see that she was fully on board with what I had previously said.
I personally think that the lighting for this particular shoots, played a huge part in my images. In the beginning when I tried to take the photo, the flash on my camera would pop and hence, flash this was really annoying and gave a shadow behind my model, which I didn't want. I switched off my flash and just used the lighting provided. I was thoroughly overwhelmed with how they turned out with just hot lights. I also tried taking a few photographs with both lights on, then only using one with the other one off, then vice versa. I think also, that the impact on these photographs due to the specific lighting has worked, and gives the photographs a raw, natural feel.
I also decided to keep my model mobile in one position, then moved around with these certain lighting effects. It was really interesting how my movement afflicted on the final images chosen. Instead of asking her to move, I also moved to make the photograph more fluid and that I put thought and care into these photographs.
For this shoot, I was more focused onto the collarbones and shoulder blades of my chosen model. Below, you can see that four photographs were chosen on her collarbones, I quite like the effect in which she is side profile. I like this because it gives a certain focal point and looks really intriguing. The next six, are the photographs of her back, I really love these ones as it gives a mystery and quirky look towards how bones are exposed and how they are photographed. The eleventh photograph on my gallery below, is perhaps one of my favourite ones, although I cannot really edit this to how I would like my final out come to look, I put this is because on the tip of her shoulder there is a little bone sticking it. I tried for a while to get that into one of my shots and I thought it looked really interesting here. I also like the particular framing style of each of these shots which is to do with portrait and landscape styled framed shots.
Also to do with the lighting, the first three shots are really bright, vibrant and look really natural with the white / grey background. I like the way my model is placed within these shots. However, the next seven shots, were in this sepia tone, which again looks really interesting and to me, look really appealing. My last two is like the first three (background wise), however they look exceptionally well with my model's hair down and looking really natural with the hot lights on.
When using these shots for my edited versions I will crop most images just so that only her collarbones and shoulder blades are in the desired, finished image. I also like the angles I had got on each photo, I particularly like the landscape styled photos and can see the whole of her back which I think, personally is a really nice shot.
Overall, I particularly liked this shoot, and would definitely ask her to model for me again.
