Time Lapse Experiment:
For this I had to create two time lapse videos. For this I went to People's Park down from college and I did the front of college where people and cars come into contact.
For the time lapse at People's park, I did a five minute video of the Ducks swimming around the water.
It wasn't rather interesting standing around for five minutes recording ducks, but when I looked at it through iMovie, and sped up the video it was surprisingly really good, The way that the light had been broken due to the clouds looked really interesting on the water and the way that when the ducks were swimming, the ripples they made were interesting too. I think that if I could re-do this again I would have done it from a few different angles instead of just straight on.
For the front of college time lapse, that worked rather well too.
Again, we had to stand there for five minutes and record what was happening, it was rather interesting and fun because there was loads of movement. People kept walking to and from college and it made the video look rather interesting and when it was sped it, it looked great. The cars also made a massive impact to this video they looked rather engaging with the fact that cars and people were in the shot. I think if I'd have done this one differently I would have probably have joined in to make it a little more personal and I think it would have worked. But overall I was happy with what I had produced.
Techniques used:
Camera angles: It was rather important to get the right camera angles for each shot.
For the ducks we had to put the tripod head down a little bit to get the lake and ducks in full view,
however when it came to the cars and people that had to be straight on and down just a little, to make sure that
the people and the cars were in the video.
Auto Focus Off: I had a little trouble with the auto focus, it kept on trying to focus on a person, car or duck and
the look of it on iMovie was pretty bad, it kept on moving in and out which didn't really look right with
the whole thing.
Tripods: I had to use a tripod for the time lapse as, if I didn't the movie wouldn't have been stable enough
and there would be a lot of camera shake going on. I needed the movie to be super still and there could be no
camera shake involved, thus I had to use a tripod.
Editing in iMovie: For the editing part, I uploaded the movie into iMovie, by clicking 'Upload Video (import)
Window --> Audio Adjustments down to zero
Clip adjustments up to 400%
To export the movie I had to click on Share --> then export movie. I saved the movie onto the desktop
so it would be rather easy to find.
