Moving Image Magazine Cover:
I was thinking of maybe creating a moving image magazine cover; this would tie in well for my message on Vanity. I would require the model to have long hair, roughly to the shoulders to cover the collarbones. I would start off by having a still image with the use of typography around the image to make it look like a magazine cover, with articles ranging from Vanity and the use of words like 'SIN'. I would want them to close their eyes so that when the magazine cover comes to life after twenty-five seconds their eyes would open dramatically and it would be rather shocking to see. With this they would then start talking about vanity and it being a sin. I also would like them to talk about models and them being too thin, yet I don’t want them to not contradict themselves.
I have been researching moving magazine covers since I thought of the idea and I saw some really interesting ones. The Marie Claire one with Emma Watson was really intriguing as she starts off breathing and raising the shoulders up and down it looks really unique and really different, yet it’s a good different. She then starts to change the angle of herself and blinks which again is really interesting and effective to see, as you normally wouldn’t see this happening. I also like the way that it is a magazine cover, with the structure and layout and the use of topics on the front cover, to do with whatever else is going to be in magazine. The typography of this magazine cover, is simple and uses simple fonts to make it look more interesting to read, the colour of the blue as well, ties in with the title of Marie Claire being in blue too.
I went onto YouTube and searched for Moving Magazine Covers, and I saw one on Elite Traveler Magazine moving cover by Michael Grecco. When I first saw this I noticed that this video was 0:23 seconds, and when I pressed play I noticed the model wasn’t moving, so I was instantly intrigued. Then at 0:06 seconds, you see a section on the right hand side of her hair move by the aid of a fan, this was really interesting and quite magical in a way. I thought that this was really spectacular to see and I was really impressed by this. At 0:09 seconds, the whole of her hair was moving by the fan and it was really spectacular to see, she keeps in the same position as well which makes this work so well. When the time gets to 0:11 seconds, she has changed the way she is facing and is now facing the right and she shakes her hair and composes herself again, and goes back to the original place she was facing which mustn’t have been easy to do correctly. At 0:18 seconds, the pieces of her hair sort of go into slow motion which I thought was a really nice touch, as it was different to the whole shot so far, then at 0:20, she is still again and very still, I suppose that this was a photo from when the had just done the shoot.
Overall, this is what I would like to do as well, do some little samples with my model being very still, and then come to life and shake her hair. I think that I could get the same effect as this with some practice.
